Dear Friends,
Kick into Gear: The MobilizeU Month is less than 5 days away!
Just last week, the MobilizeU movement reached 100 participating universities from around the globe. We released a blog about this exciting milestone for the competition on Tuesday March 13th and within one week we now have an astounding 138 universities on board, from 6 continents, 27 countries and 32 US states. You can now also see how global the MobilizeU Movement has become though our School Coordinators.
Since the MobilizeU Month is just 10 days away, we'd like to highlight some very important information you will need in order to document your university's participation in the competition. The basics are listed below, but make sure to check out the "Competition Need to Knows" Resource for detailed information on the process of officially calculating and reporting acts of green each week.
Competition 'Need to Knows' Checklist:
§ The MobilizeU Month is four weeks long: March 29 – April 29.
§ On Thursday of each week, a Google form will be sent out for you to report the acts of green you generated throughout that week.
§ The Google reporting form must be submitted each week by Sunday at 12 am EST.
§ In addition, each week you will be required to post a photo or video documenting the acts of green you reported for that week.
NOTE: Each week, please report ONLY the number of acts of green you generated during that week. We will calculate your university's total number of acts of green at the end of the MobilizeU Month.
This photo was sent to us by MobilizeU Venezuela where students teamed up with the Robert Smith Foundation for a beach cleanup. Keep up the great work!
FEATURED BIG TICKET IDEAS
The Billion Dollar Green Challenge
Generate lots of acts of green by campaigning on campus to get your university administration to join the Billion Dollar Green Challenge. "The Challenge" is a select group of US-based colleges who have committed to invest in a self-managed revolving loan fund that encourages colleges, universities and other non-profit institutions to finance energy efficiency improvements. This will allow your campus to save money through energy efficiency improvements and reinvest money saved in future projects. For more information contact Max Storto at Sustainable Endowments Institute.
American College and University President' Climate Commitment
Generate lots of acts of green by campaigning on campus to get your university president to sign the American College and University President's Climate Commitment. This big ticket idea is open to US-based universities, and would encourage your university to develop of Campus Climate Action Plan. If your school is already committed to ACUPCC, then support your schools efforts to fulfill the pledge. For more information contact Sarah Brylinsky at Second Nature.
These next two weeks will be an exciting time in preparation for the MobilizeU Month! Please check out all of the latest resources, and let us know if you have any questions at all before the competition begins!
See ya on March 29th,
The MobilizeU Team
